The Office of Community and Government Relations (CGR), a department of University Advancement, serves UCI through Government Relations, Community Relations and Special Events. This office coordinates and facilitates UCI’s Relationships with neighboring communities; local, state, and federal government; and the general public. As a central resource focused on external constituencies, CGR’s departments support UCI through strategic relationships, being an entry point to UCI engagement, strengthening UCI’s public perception and the pursuit of public policy outcomes that strategically benefit the University.
The Government Relations team serves as a liaison to elected and appointed officials at the federal, state, regional and local levels to promote our research, education, and public services activities in City hall, the County seat, Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
Community Relations creates opportunities for Orange County’s political, community, and business leaders to engage with university leaders to support the connection between Orange County’s dynamic economy and its premiere research institution.
Special Events and Protocol provides strategic guidance, event management and protocol services for high level, university-wide events which support the University’s priorities and mission, reflect positively on UCI’s image, and foster relationships with both internal and external audiences.
